Oxford Druce Way stabbing: Man in hospital and four arrested

Detectives have launched a major investigation and have arrested four men in the latest knife attack to rock the community.

The victim, who is in his 20s, was stabbed at an address in Druce Way at 10pm last night (Thursday, May 9) and had a quantity of cash taken from him.

He was taken to hospital to be treated for an abdominal wound and a broken ankle. He remains there in a stable condition.

The offenders were seen to get into a white compact vehicle at the scene. A white car also turned up at A&E with the victim.

Four men have been arrested in connection with the incident, a 19-year-old man and a 31-year-old man, both from Greenwich, London, a 31-year-old man from Kent and another man were each arrested on suspicion of Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent.

They remain in custody at this time.

As a result of the incident, police are now appealing for witnesses.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Alexander McKend, of Oxford CID, said: “We are carrying out a thorough investigation following this stabbing and aggravated burglary and I am appealing for any witnesses to please come forward.

“Our investigation is moving at pace and we have already made four arrests in connection with this incident.

“At this stage, we believe that this is an isolated incident and that there is no wider risk to the public.

“Anyone with any information relating to this incident should call 101 or make a report on our website, quoting reference number 43240215773.

“Also I would ask anyone who has CCTV, a dash-cam or a video doorbell to please check their footage and get in touch if it shows anything that could assist our enquiries.”

The stabbing comes after a spate of incidents across the county this year, including two murders in Littlemore and Bicester and an attempted murder in the centre of Oxford – all of which are being dealt with in the crown court.

Thame Valley Police have reassured residents that they have taken ‘robust action’ concerning the unrelated incidents and are working actively to tackle and prevent knife crime across the county.

Speaking earlier this year, chief constable Jason Hogg said knife crime is ‘very, very rare’ and pointed out that knife crime has decreased across Thames Valley by 10.8 per cent.

Reassuring the community about this recent incident, Detective Sargeant McKend added: “I would like to reassure the local community that we are conducting fast-time and thorough enquiries, and if anybody has any concerns or information that can help the investigation, to please speak to any of our officers at the scene.”
